Panaji: The Goa State Council for Educational Research and Training (GSCERT) is working on a project to convert textbook lessons for students from Class 1st to 8th into video format. This initiative comes as part of efforts to modernize education and align with the National Education Policy (NEP) by introducing new content that includes local topics.GSCERT has expanded its infrastructure by adding two new studios, alongside utilizing two studios owned by the directorate of higher education. These resources will collectively facilitate the transformation of new textbooks into digital content.GSCERT director Meghana Shetgaonkar shared an update, “This year, we completed introducing new textbooks in all subjects aligned with National Education Policy (NEP) from Grade I to VIII. A lot of new content and local topics have been added to the textbooks as part of the exercise.”She further elaborated on the project’s technical capabilities.“We have two studios now, besides two more studios belonging to the directorate of higher education. All four will be utilised for turning the new textbooks into digital content,” Shetgaonkar explained. This move follows the development of educational videos by the directorate of higher education that covered various subjects and streams. These previously created videos have paved the way for GSCERT’s current initiative, which aims to provide engaging and accessible learning resources for younger students. The videos will be uploaded to the Diksha portal, a platform initiated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) back in 2017. The aim of the Diksha portal is to provide readily available digital resources for school education across the country.Teachers and students will be able to access the content on this platform as a reference tool for their studies. This approach not only supplements classroom learning but also enables a flexible learning experience tailored to individual student needs.
