Badruka School of Management (BSM), Hyderabad, has inaugurated an Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) to provide students with a platform to experiment with business ideas, identify market opportunities and explore entrepreneurial ventures.

Pankaj Bhudhwani, director of digital marketing firm Mediagarh, which has a team of over 80 professionals, facilitated the inauguration. The initiative aims to encourage management students to develop entrepreneurial thinking, innovate and build businesses.

The E-Cell aims to bring students together to discuss entrepreneurship and generate ideas that could be translated into business ventures. Through Startup Studio, the institution seeks to inspire students to identify opportunities and develop solutions to business and societal problems by experimenting and recognising existing gaps.

The institution’s Entrepreneurship Club, Startup Studio, played a key role in establishing the E-Cell and driving the initiative forward.

Startup Studio to focus on startup creation

Operating under the theme “Spot the Gap. Build the Opportunity,” Startup Studio is designed to guide students through the process of identifying problems and exploring potential business solutions.

The initiative is intended to enable students to identify needs, test new ideas and assess their feasibility as business opportunities. It also emphasises experimentation, giving learners the opportunity to try different approaches and work through problems rather than rely solely on theoretical solutions.

Entrepreneurship programmes at management institutions can offer students opportunities to explore the development of business ideas, from ideation to business creation. At BSM, Startup Studio is designed to facilitate this process by providing students with a space to explore their entrepreneurial interests.

The initiative also aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. The E-Cell seeks to encourage the exchange of ideas and explore opportunities across different areas of business.

Industry engagement and experiential learning

The inauguration, facilitated by Bhudhwani, brought an industry perspective to the institution’s entrepreneurship initiative. Mediagarh operates in the digital marketing sector and has a workforce of over 80 professionals.

The initiative aligns with BSM’s focus on industry engagement and hands-on experience in management education. Such activities are intended to help students identify business challenges and apply management concepts to real-world situations.

Entrepreneurship-related activities can supplement classroom learning for students interested in starting ventures. The E-Cell is expected to provide a platform for students to develop and pursue their interests, explore opportunities and discuss the practical aspects of starting a business.

Details on whether Startup Studio will offer formal incubation support, seed funding, structured mentoring programmes, startup competitions or investor connections have not been specified. Information on planned activities, participation criteria and timelines for future programmes is also not available.

E-Cell to encourage entrepreneurial thinking

The establishment of the E-Cell adds an entrepreneurship-focused platform to BSM’s broader management education initiatives. The programme seeks to encourage students to identify opportunities, experiment with ideas and develop solutions to business and social challenges.

The platform could serve as an initial step for students looking to explore entrepreneurship during their management studies. Its effectiveness will depend on the activities and opportunities offered to students to test their ideas and the support available as projects progress towards implementation.
