BHU sets up committee to address student grievances, ETEducation

Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University has constituted a Coordination Committee on Student Matters (CCSM) to address grievances and demands raised collectively by student groups.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Office of the Registrar (Academic). The committee has been set up as a structured mechanism to deal with student concerns related to various university matters.

According to the notification, student groups may raise issues concerning security, sports grounds, network connectivity, maintenance, cleanliness, lighting, gardens, campus traffic, academic regulations, examinations, hostel mess arrangements, drinking water, horticulture and discipline.

The committee will be chaired by Ombudsperson Prof SM Singh; Prof Rakesh Pandey of the Department of Psychology, former Chief Proctor Prof SP Singh and former Dean of Students Prof AK Nema will serve as members.

The committee’s initial tenure will be one year from the date of notification and may be extended if required.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said the initiative is an important step towards strengthening communication within the university. He said it would improve coordination between students and various university offices and help ensure that student concerns are heard and resolved through dialogue, trust and cooperation.
