Sunita Ahuja and Govinda’s Mumbai home is a mix of traditional detailing and luxury. Done up in cream and ivory with carefully chosen decorative accents, it balances old-world charm with modern style. As Sunita Ahuja gets ready for Diwali, she gave a closer look at the house in a recent interaction.

A classic entrance

As per Pinkvilla, the entrance of Sunita Ahuja’s house sets the tone with a wooden main door that has vertical slatted detailing. During celebrations, traditional decorative elements and festive lights are added, making the entry warm and welcoming.

Living room with European touches

The living room is one of the most striking spaces in the house. It follows a palette of cream, ivory, deep forest green, mustard yellow and chocolate brown. Instead of wallpaper, the walls use elaborate cornices and layered panel detailing, which give the room a European feel. The furniture adds drama against the neutral backdrop. Deep green button-tufted leather armchairs with high backs and rolled armrests sit alongside mustard-yellow upholstered seats and a dark brown Chesterfield-style leather sofa. Neutral cushions soften the rich upholstery while keeping the colour scheme the same.

Dining area in cream and gold

The dining area is connected to the living room and follows the same classic style. A large rectangular table with a white marble-effect top is the centrepiece, surrounded by cream upholstered chairs. Glass-fronted cabinets hold crockery and glassware, while cream finishes and gold-toned details add a refined look.

Deep teal display wall

One of the most distinctive features is the floor-to-ceiling deep teal shelving. It stands out against the cream-heavy interiors and works as both display space and storage. The open compartments hold framed family photographs, awards, recognition plaques, decorative figurines and personal memorabilia. Being built in, the shelves make these personal collections a part of the home’s design.

Natural light and a favourite space

Large windows let natural light brighten the living areas during the day. Patterned curtains and glass doors create an easy flow between indoor elegance and outdoor relaxation.Sunita Ahuja shares happy moments from inside the house and looks back on the memories she has made there. She calls it her favourite space.
