Lucknow: In a significant policy shift, the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has announced that candidates associated with violent protests will be disqualified from government job applications. This new measure, introduced to expedite the hiring process while enhancing scrutiny beyond mere merit, emphasizes that participation in violent activities will signal active involvement in social disruption. The policy stipulates that any individual who has engaged in violent protests after the age of 21 or within three years prior to the background checks will face disqualification. This provision aims to delineate between those who are politically active and those who participate in violence, explicitly stating that a person’s political ideology or affiliation alone cannot be grounds for job denial.Once candidates successfully meet these criteria, they can anticipate receiving job offers even before their police verifications are completed. This change seeks to eliminate delays often associated with the verification process.тАЬSelected candidates will be allowed to join after submitting self-declarations and other data in the prescribed verification format,тАЭ the policy states. However, there are exceptions for postings that require security-sensitive responsibilities; full verification will be mandatory before candidates can commence their duties in these roles. In a move to ensure timely processing, police and intelligence agencies have been instructed to deliver verification reports within 30 days of being assigned this responsibility. Should there be delays in submission, these issues will be escalated to the home department, which will take further action as necessary. This policy marks a shift in how the Uttar Pradesh government addresses the relationship between employment and political activity, aiming to streamline processes while underlining a commitment to maintaining order and security.
