Lucknow: Students of Lucknow University will no longer need to depend solely on physical identity cards to establish their identity on campus. The university has uploaded QR code-based digital ID cards of 21,268 students admitted in the 2026-27 academic session on the Centre’s DigiLocker platform.
The university claims to be the first state university in the country to provide digital identity cards directly through DigiLocker on such a scale.
The initiative covers newly admitted students of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, Shastri and PhD programmes.
LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava said the initiative was aimed at making student services more convenient and reducing paperwork.
“ All 21,268 newly admitted students can now access their QR code-based identity cards through DigiLocker without having to stand in queues at departments or administrative offices to collect them,” he said.
Students can access their digital ID cards by logging into DigiLocker and clicking on the ‘Generate vCard’ option below their profile photograph. The card can then be viewed and downloaded on a smartphone.
